Biography

William Britain & Sons of London revolutionised toy soldiers with hollow-cast lead figures and later produced the famous Britains Garden series of miniature plants and accessories. The firm remains a benchmark for collectible cast figures.

Maker's Mark

Figures are typically marked on the underside of the base or on a curved oval paddle with "BRITAINS" together with a copyright line and, on many pieces, a "MADE IN ENGLAND" and patent or date stamp that helps with dating.
